Seaway’s 24 Coastal Hardtop is a more polished version of the 24 Hardtop Sport. Built on the same able 24’ X 8’6” hull, she’s available in two versions and with many optional features. For maximum ventilation with a touch of classic “lobster yacht” wood trim, choose the open pilothouse version, which offers roll-up side spray curtains and even an aft curtain for cold, nasty weather. Or order the optional hard-sided pilothouse with 43” sliding windows. Either way, the look is pure Downeast, with capabilities to match.
Like her 24’ Seaway sisters, the Coastal Hardtop runs well with a 150-hp outboard, mounted either on a transom cutout or an outboard bracket. The latter provides space for a stern seat with teak backrest and cushions, as well as a swim step with ladder. For fishing, horizontal rod racks under the gunwales come standard, and holders in the gunwales are optional. Under the pilothouse, choose helm and companion seats mounted on storage boxes with cushioned aft-facing seats (one can be plumbed for a livewell) or an L-shaped lounge to port in place of the companion seat. The latter offers a sink with fresh water system, and a 12-volt refrigerator is available if the boat is equipped with shore power.
These features make her a great day-cruise boat for family and friends, but add a V-berth filler with cushions and she becomes comfortable for a couple on overnight and weekend cruises. Additional big-boat options include an anchor windlass and a bow thruster for maneuvering in tight places. Whether lying on a mooring, floating in a slip, or tied to a floating pier, her self-bailing cockpit keeps her ready for your next adventure.
